My story

Hi, I'm Zarlene. i fell into cake decorating by accident about 5 years ago and haven't look back!
I spent almost 10 years in the fashion production field, both here and overseas before returning home to Dunedin to settle down and start a family.
My cake journey began with making some carrot cake cupcakes for the NICU Staff (my son spent his first 4 months in hospital after deciding to arrive extremely early at only 26 weeks!)
i had been watching some of those amazing cake shows on tv and thought, hey it would be cool to make some wee carrots for on top of the cupcakes. and with the purchase of my first ever packet of fondant the madness started! (as for the carrots, lets just say the floppy carrot-ish shaped decorations left a lot to be desired, but the nurses loved them non the less!)
over the past 5 years i have spent countless hours researching techniques, attending online classes and tutorials, experimenting with recipes, waaaaaay too many late nights (or are they early mornings!?!?) and of coarse many, many, many hours making actual cakes! I have made close to 1000 custom cakes to date, and I can see many more exciting and challenging cakes in my future!
I must admit that I spend far too much time on cakes! if i am not in the kitchen making cakes, chances are i will be in the hardware store purchasing cake supplies (yip i never knew my cake journey would include the use of so many power tools!) or at my computer researching cakes or watching tutorials!
oh and any time not spent caking its taken up with my amazing wee family! My extremely understanding and supportive Husband, 2 beautiful children, and the latest addition an adorable black Lab puppy!
Welcome to my crazy cake journey! come along and join the sweet ride!
